Meet Our Coaches

As a lifetime athlete, Tanner grew up playing team sports including baseball and basketball. In high school, he transitioned his focus to cross-country and track. Always keeping a team-first mentality, Tanner ran cross country for Mount Marty College during his freshman year of college. Due to injuries, he then switched his focus to weight lifting.

After years of lifting weights and looking for a more balanced approach to training, he was introduced to CrossFit by fellow firefighters. Tanner works full-time as a firefighter and volunteers in his spare time for the Tea Fire Department.

As a founding member of CrossFit 605, his interest in fitness and team building led him to coaching.

He currently lives in Tea with his girlfriend, Mandy, along with their spoiled Austrian shepherd, Bonnie.

Meet Tanner

Coach

Hi, I am Alyssa, a CrossFit coach dedicated to helping individuals of all levels unlock their potential through functional fitness. I’m a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, along with an Occupational Therapist. I started CrossFit in 2023, and it completely changed my approach to fitness and nutrition.

As someone who struggled with consistency going to the gym, I quickly fell in love with how CrossFit blends strength, endurance, and community. CrossFit helped me lose 70+ pounds and keep it off.

After seeing the impact it had in my own life, I decided to pursue coaching so I could help others experience the same transformation. I believe in the transformative power of CrossFit, and I’m excited to share that with you!

Meet Alyssa

Coach

With over five years of coaching experience and an unwavering passion for health and fitness, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others transform—physically, mentally, and emotionally. My journey began with my own personal transformation, igniting a commitment to guide others toward discovering their own strength.

After stepping away from coaching for a year, I realized that my true calling had never changed—helping people grow is where my heart truly lies.

Throughout my career, I’ve empowered countless individuals to overcome obstacles, achieve goals they once thought impossible, and unlock a new level of confidence through CrossFit. For me, the greatest reward isn’t just witnessing physical progress—it’s seeing people believe in themselves, grow stronger mentally, and realize they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.

My personal journey into CrossFit was sparked by my love, Cody, who first introduced me to CrossFit605—a community that quickly felt like home. I’m a proud mom to RaeLynn and Korbin, and a bonus mom to Harper, and they inspire me daily to lead by example everyday. When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me exploring the outdoors, traveling, camping, biking, hiking, kayaking— always with Cody by my side, making every adventure even more meaningful.

No matter the challenge, I believe in meeting it head-on—with resilience, passion, and purpose—and I teach my athletes to do the same.

He shares his life with his loving fiancée, McKenzie, and the two of them enjoy making the most of every season, whether it’s exploring the great outdoors or simply relaxing at home. Growing up, Carter was always active in sports, and those experiences helped shape his determination and work ethic, qualities he brings towards coaching and wanting to see others succeed inside and outside of the gym.

Meet McKenzie

Coach

A lifelong athlete, McKenzie grew up playing a variety of team sports including volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, and track. Her passion led her to play collegiate volleyball at Dakota Wesleyan University, where she also earned her nursing degree. When her time as a college athlete came to an end, McKenzie didn’t leave fitness behind. Instead, she redirected her energy into building a lifestyle rooted in mindful nutrition and strength training. After years of commercial lifting, she was introduced to CrossFit by her fiancé, Carter, and found herself instantly drawn to its challenges and community. CrossFit reignited her competitive fire and uncovered a deeper purpose: helping others become the best version of themselves through food, movement, and mindset. Now a dedicated coach, McKenzie uses her experiences to inspire others on their own wellness journeys. She currently lives in Tea, South Dakota, with Carter, and enjoys spending time with him, her friends, and her family.
